One bite and you will fall in love with this super fudge cake ! It’s super moist and super fudgy in texture. It’s an Australian mud cake, but in simple terms it’s a fudge brownie type cake. It’s dense like a fudge brownie, dark and delicious but it’s also super moist and tall like a chocolate cake.

I cover the chocolate mud cake with a delicious dark chocolate butter ganache which is amazing. The recipe for that is below.

  8. Hi Bernie.
To get the method, you have to actually watch the video. I ended up writing it down as the video played the first time, then had the video playing as I was baking.

  9. Hi. I watched the video of this cake and I must say it looks so right…😍😍. I’d like to bake half the recipe. Would I bake it for the full two hours or just an hour?

    1. I have not tried this recipe in a rice cooker, but others have steamed many of my cake recipes without a problem. Sorry for the late reply,
I check all comments on my YouTube channel much quicker.

  10. Thank you for this cake recipe. My question is can i use square pans? What Size of Square pans?

    Reply
    1. Hi Ruthie, yes you can use square pans without a problem. You can use anything that you have, just don’t overfill them, and still use the parchment paper up the sides,
as this cake does rise up a lot in the oven.

    1. I cannot give you an exact time. It will be a bit less. Make absolutely sure you check it with a wooden skewer.

    1. Please explain the issue. I just tried clicking the little print icon and it gives me an error, is this what you did ? if so, right click on the recipe area
and choose print, and it will work. It seems this is a problem with many who use this service, which I didn’t know was happening until now.

  11. I just wanted to say this has become my go to chocolate mud cake recipe so thanks for sharing this fantastic recipe. I was never a huge fan of plain chocolate mud cake myself till i tried your recipe while looking for a recipe for a wedding cake i was asked to make about two months ago. I have made three cakes in the last month or so and am about to make another two for birthday cakes for next weekend – that is how much I loved it – and wont waste time on other recipes going forward. The Only change for me is to use real espresso coffee as that is what we drink at home and watch baking time as the first cake had great flavour and i cooked for the time you advised however it was on the dry side so i have to just cook for a lesser time in my oven and it comes out perfect. I might try using extra chocolate next time too and see if it makes it fudgier 😁

    1. Making it again tonight – this time with the addition of a whole boiled and pureed Orange … Jaffa mud cake 😁 can’t wait till it’s cooked. Will let you know how it goes. I think I almost know the recipe off by heart now lol. Next cake to try is your sponge cake – I have never attempted a sponge so I am excited by this but it will be a couple of weeks away. Love your videos – you make everything look so easy – thanks again

  12. if I use a square baking pan do I still have to use the parchment paper around and under or ,I just butter all around thank you I will try to bake this recipe

    1. You can still use the parchment paper if you wish, or you can butter and flour your cake. Either way will work fine. I do love the ease of the parchment though.

    1. Hi Susan,

that is all purpose flour I used. In some countries this is called “plain” flour. It’s exactly the same thing. I hope this helps 🙂
